Overview

Sharps Workplace Services were appointed by a Government Department in Victoria to work alongside the Space planning and utilisation Team. The aim of the project was to consolidate an existing estate of over 30 Buildings into 1 central Hub. Works were planned over a period of 4 years.

Project Scope

  • Branches Merged: 30+ existing offices into 1 centralised location
  • Personnel Affected: 4,500+ employees (In excess of 10,000 single relocations)
  • Duration: Planned and delivered within the client’s strict schedule

Services Delivered:

    • Attendance at planning meeting as part of the wider team
    • Relocation of Safes and Secure Cabinets
    • Full Crate and Cage Hire throughout project
    • Multiple projects undertaken simultaneously
    • Furniture Recycling services
    • Sequential packing, relocation and unpacking of sensitive documentation
    • Full furniture disassembly, relocation, and reassembly (4,500 desks, chairs, tambours, filing cabinets)
    • Full pack, relocation and un-pack of Desktop IT and Sever Equipment.
    • Some Furniture was moved 3 times throughout the project to achieve the final consolidation
    • Time specific relocation of Ministers and their support staff

Pre-Move Planning

Sharps Workplace Services attended pre and post -move consultation meetings with the client to understand our role within the planned process. Our input and attendance on site were crucial to support our client and all the trades from IT Engineers to Carpet Fitters to Glaziers, we were there, to clear space and re-fill upon completion.

Furniture & Physical Move

  • All 4,500 desks were relocated and placed in accordance with Floorplans supplied.
  • All the sundry Furniture items (Chairs, Pedestals, Lockers, Desk Screens, Cabinets etc) were also moved and placed at their new homes
  • Working closely with the move managers we ensured that the space was ready for the client to start work at 8am every Monday Morning.
  • Out of Hours, Bank Holiday and Weekend working were planned in to help achieve the goal

Outcome

  • Project delivered on time and within budget
  • Estate consolidation achieved in accordance with the proposed project plan.
  • Minimal disruption to the business units
  • Seamlessly executed relocations due to extensive pre-planning
